Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Council Committee chairman, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, wants more opportunities for Indian youth to further their education.
He stated that the government pays attention to all Malaysians, particularly the urban poor, and wants to address it not only in the form of support but to restructure the economic position of people through education.
High tech TVET areas identified for Indians to study include artificial intelligence, electric vehicles and hydrogen related technology which will allow graduates to be highly skilled and command higher salaries.
Ahmad Zahid also disclosed that the TVET Council is collaborating with various industry players, which means that TVET graduates will be able to work with companies in Malaysia and internationally.
He has already instructed the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit to continue to deal with issues and problems among their youth and suggested more TVET institutions offer dropouts and school leavers opportunities.
Ahmad Zahidi stated that the interest of Indian youth in certain TVET fields will ensure collaboration by the government with technical institutions and universities in India so technological education can be promoted among Indian youth.
