The corruption blitz by the MACC, LHDN and PDRM against former Malaysian leaders and their families, cronies and sycophants has aroused rising anger and a show of disrespect and contempt by the rakyat.
Malaysians are aghast and sorely disappointed that, after having placed their trust and future in these leaders, they have been betrayed and it comes as a great insult that some of these corrupt leaders are still in commanding roles.
While a petty thief in Malaysia can languish in jail for six months for stealing a can of sardines to feed his hungry family, Malaysians are shaking their head in disbelief at the billions of ringgit siphoned by former leaders.
While these corrupt leaders are being blamed for the financial hardship and suffering being endured by ordinary people, the amount these former leaders have stolen is collectively more than enough to clear the National Debt.
While all those accused have come out in defence of themselves, it looks more as if they are in a state of denial and therefore need to account for how they are able to accumulate billions of ringgit, as while holding public office, their remuneration does not tally with their wealth.
The Anwar administration must go to the ground and leave no stone unturned in their investigations to recover this looting by former leaders and to ensure that the recovered monies are equitably distributed among the people.
