Anwar to brief APEC leaders

Malaysian Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI), will lead a delegation to the 30th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco and is expected to emphasise on regional cooperation and building economic resilience.

DSAI is also set to take the opportunity to share the principles of Malaysia’s Madani Economic Framework which emphasises the inclusivity of all races in the country, sustainable development and the sharing of prosperity.

DSAI will also participate in the Informal Dialogue with leaders of Colombia, Fiji and India, the APEC Business Advisory Council Dialogue with APEC Economic Leaders and the APEC 2023 CEO Summit.

He is also set to participate in the Second Indo Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity Leaders’ Meeting where he will present Malaysia’s perspectives on the current global economy with CEOs, entrepreneurs and APEC leaders.

A highlight of his visit is the delivery of a public lecture to students and scholars of the University of California, Berkeley, focusing on “Superpower Rivalry and Rising Tensions in the Asia Pacific,” which is a view from Southeast Asia.

The United States president, Mr Joe Biden, is expected to chair the AELM and will also lead in depth discussions with APEC leaders on topics centred on strengthening economic ties, enhancing inclusivity and maintaining sustainability.
