Often on social media it has been highlighted on the growing number of Malaysians who are classified as Very Important Person or Very Very Important Person and the common man is shaking his head in disbelief as the spectre unfolds.
Many Malaysians question and query on how these people can be bestowed with titles and awards when, upon scrutiny, they appear to be either below average or average individuals who do not seem to match up to their credentials.
Rumours are abuzz on social media on the modus operandi of a number of these VIPs and VVIPs who have been awarded titles, qualifications and awards which are dubious and suspicious in nature.
A few postings on social media describe how they have come across VIPs and VVIPs who are actually involved in drug trafficking, illegal gambling and prostitution while on the front the facade is that they are decent, upright individuals.
In the light of these developments, and added to the fact that money is being paid to become a VIP or VVIP, it is high time to review the awarding of any title or qualification as most of these awardees have basically achieved nothing spectacular.
In order for an award not to lose its prestige and meaning, it is best to limit it to achievements that are noble and genuine which has helped Malaysians across the board to benefit and improve themselves.
