Learning to conserve our pleasures

In a worldwide survey post Covid 19 pandemic, it was discovered, very surprisingly, that Malaysians were top on the list of people who found life dull and boring and this really beggars belief.

While it is uncertain what the methodology used in the survey is, Malaysia really is no dull, boring, unexciting place and, in fact, many people think of it as a happening place and holding a deep attraction for foreigners.

Malaysians who responded to the survey were perhaps, and this is conjecture, attributing this to the dull political scene that has really seen no real change despite many promises by politicians of all stripes.

But the country remains focused on being a major draw for tourists and visitors and it must not be confused with the political landscape which really needs to change. Otherwise life in Malaysia is never dull and boring for a moment.

In fact, what Malaysians perhaps need to do is to conserve their pleasures before it becomes sated and banal to them. There is a need for Malaysians to be realistic in their expectations of pleasure and not to become exhausted by it.

The reason why Malaysians find that life in this country is dull and boring is perhaps because they are guilty of exhausting their pleasures and not conserving and enjoying life at a more acceptable pace.
