Unity and hope is National Day theme
BY: AKMAL AZIZ
This year’s National Day theme of ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan’ or translated into English it will read as ‘Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope’ which actually holds a deep meaning.
The theme invites all Malaysians who love the country to strengthen the spirit of unity in facing various challenges together which includes the current global economic uncertainty which has badly affected the nation.
According to political analysts the theme symbolises how important being a united nation is in driving the country’s economic development and raising the living standards of Malaysians to a higher level.
These analysts say it is important for multi ethnic countries like Malaysia to uphold unity because cooperation is the main asset of the country as the various races accommodate one another and live in harmony.
They further state that economic progress can only be achieved for the nation if there is peace and stability and these conditions can only exist if the people are united and learn to help one another as being divided will create instability.
In this context, owing to Malaysia’s uniqueness, with people of different races and religions and cultures, the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara need to be used as guides for the country to maintain peace and stability.
