While the Bumiputra economy languishes in the current economic scenario and Indian businesses continue to struggle, the Malaysian Chinese community have come up with innovative schemes and creative ideas to prosper.

There are critics who point out that the Chinese are only money minded. While this may be true, they must be admired for their steely resolve and practical nature in taking the bull by the horns by creating opportunities and possibilities.

While money isn’t everything, it certainly makes the world go round and this is why the Chinese believe that by creating wealth they might not solve all their problems but they know having money will make their life easier.

The crux of the ability of the Chinese to overcome the odds is their ability to be pliable and versatile and be able to wear many hats and they have learnt from past experiences not to put all their eggs in one basket.

Diversification and having connections and business and investments in other countries is the essence of their growth and maturity and nearly every Malaysian Chinese has at least one member of their family stationed overseas.

This speaks volumes of their foresight but critics contend that they are being disloyal to this country. While this might be true, given the precocious political climate now it is actually a prudent and wise measure.
