UNIVERSITI TEKNOLOGI PETRONAS (UTP) MAKES INTERNATIONAL MARK WITH MILESTONE RANKINGS ACHIEVEMENTS

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) has soared to new heights in the prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and Times Higher Education (THE) rankings, solidifying its position as Malaysia’s top university and the premier private university in ASEAN. UTP’s outstanding performance on the global stage is a testament to its commitment to excellence in education and research.

Notably, UTP has achieved a historic milestone by securing the position as Malaysia’s number one university and emerging as the top private university in ASEAN in THE Asia University Rankings 2023. With a remarkable leap of 32 spots, the university has advanced from 95th place last year to an impressive 63rd position in this year’s rankings. This exceptional progress underscores UTP’s dedication to delivering world-class education.

The university has once again made its mark on the global stage with an impressive ranking in the QS World University Rankings 2024. UTP has recorded a phenomenal jump, now placed at 307th, climbing an impressive 54 spots from its previous position of 361. This significant achievement solidifies UTP’s position as a leading institution in the global higher education landscape, placing it within the top 21% globally.

UTP’s excellent performance in the rankings is attributed to its top-performing domains: Citation, Academic Reputation, and Employer Reputation. These domains exemplify the university’s dedication to impactful research, recognition within the academic community and in producing highly sought-after graduates for diverse industries worldwide.

Furthermore, UTP, a 26-year-old institution, achieved a remarkable feat in THE Young University Rankings 2023. For the third consecutive year since 2021, UTP has solidified its position as Malaysia’s number one university, demonstrating remarkable progress in global recognition by climbing an impressive 40 places to secure the 79th position. UTP excels in the Research and International Outlook domains, receiving the highest scores in the nation.

The rankings evaluated universities worldwide that are aged 50 years or younger. UTP’s exceptional rise from its previous rank of 119th showcases the university’s unwavering commitment to excellence in education, research, and fostering a dynamic learning environment and experience for its students.
