Financial aid for houses of worship
In a thoughtful and considerate gesture by the Local Government Development Ministry, fifty six out of approximately 700 applications received will be entitled to the non Islamic houses of worship (RIBI) financial assistance of RM7.45 million.
Netizens, especially Hindus, were excited and appreciative of the allocation which is part of RM50 million provided by the unity government to RIBI organizations for maintenance and the repair works of their premises.
The Local Government Development Ministry stated they hoped the allocation will be sufficient to help RIBI organizations to upkeep, maintain, renovate and repair their premises in a more orderly manner.
Meanwhile, TMV learnt that the ministry’s task force is continuing to conduct a screening and vetting process on the remaining number of applications and requested interested houses of worship to submit their applications.
Seven houses of worship in the state of Selangor received the aid and include the Sri Ramar Alayam Temple, Selayang Bharu (RM102,200) and Sri Muneeswarar Alayam Temple, Batu Caves (RM187,300).
