The surveillance and monitoring of the upcoming elections in six states will be conducted by three powerful organisations in the country and they are the Election Commission (EC), the Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) and PDRM.

The general public have been alerted to be the ‘eyes and ears’ of these three watchdogs and report to them immediately any wrongdoing, bribery or irregularity in the campaigning period and during polling.

The role of these three watch dogs will play an important part to ensure that there are no untoward incidents during this election period and they will send their officers and staff to assist the electorate in their voting.

Other organisations, vigilante groups and individuals play a minor role in providing accurate and timely information of any misdeed and non governmental organisations are expected to play an equally important role.

While election fever has gripped the nation and Malaysians are wondering if the fledgling Anwar administration will collapse or be able to gain a stronger grip on power, the elections are expected to focus on bread and butter issues.

Issues such as rising prices of goods and services, the high unemployment rate, household debt and finances, home ownership, education and access to affordable healthcare are the thrust of these state elections.
