Mounting pressure on Anwar

Since his appointment as Malaysia’s prime minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) has been under siege by his opponents from day one in Putrajaya and the pressure has been relentless and mounting.

Some politicians, people and organisations have taken advantage of his precocious situation to obtain concessions and benefits from him by threatening not to support him and these methods are now more common with the upcoming state elections.

But DSAI is nonchalant and unfazed by the widespread politicking and is just soaking up all the pressure to edge further and further to consolidate his grip on power and shows no signs of caving in or throwing in the towel.

DSAI has gone through incarceration and he has suffered bruises and battering in the Malaysian political arena for decades and he is certainly no newcomer or novice to adversity which has only served to strengthen him.

The Malaysian prime minister knows the cue he has to take and though he has been accused of being populist and playing to the audience, DSAI has proven that he is also able to make tough, difficult decisions.

While it is hard and difficult to gaze into the future and the outcome of the six state elections it is obvious and getting more and more evident right now that among all the political leaders DSAI is the people’s choice as prime minister.
