Malaysia’s Unity Government is to outline the roadmap to the country’s economic recovery or the Madani economic narrative in August this year whereby Putrajaya wants to funnel investments into different sectors.

The roadmap is to spell out details on the national energy transition plan and what other subsidies will be rationalised so as to only benefit needy groups such as the low and middle income households and individuals.

A key thrust of the Madani economic narrative will be to leverage on the green economy as a source of business growth and the creation of high paying, high quality jobs to reform the economy.

While policies that need to be immediately implemented will be continued, the narrative will provide clear directions for each ministry and agency and ease the work of the ministries and agencies involved.

According to prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim the goals of the economic narrative would include creating a high value, sustainable economy, expanding social protection by empowering individuals and reforming the labour market.

The government would also invest heavily in the digital economy to spur increases in productivity, jobs and poverty reduction and a push into the green economy by lifting the ban on exporting electricity from renewable sources.
