No more backdoor governments please
BY: SRIDEVI SURYA
Malaysians should have learnt their lessons well under a backdoor government and therefore they have to come together in unison to back Pakatan all the way to serve their full term of service until the next general election.
While it has to be conceded that the present government is not an ideal choice or not what Malaysians expected, it looks like an acceptable compromise in piecing together the political puzzle to form the Pakatan government.
Political extremists and lunatic fringe groups have been making a lot of noise and vowing to change the government but they are just pockets of dissent without any real basis as the majority of Malaysians put their weight behind Pakatan.
But please be patient Malaysians as New Malaysia is a work in progress and just like Rome was not built in a day it will take years of planning, hard work and industry to give birth to a bold, vibrant and dynamic democracy.
While it is openly known that there are threats and acts of intimidation to overthrow the government, Malaysians have learnt to take it in their stride and also to take it with a pinch of salt as they envisaged these political dramas.
Malaysian prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should ignore or silence his opponents and instead focus more energy and effort in building a New Malaysia where all Malaysians have a place under the sun.
