A dread of the future
BY: MIA NAWAWI
While more and more Malaysians are endorsing and supporting the leadership of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (DSAI) as prime minister they still feel a certain dread of the future because many things are uncertain and not cast in stone.
It is these uncertainties that are causing a certain dread and creating unease and unhappiness among Malaysians that need to be ironed out as quickly as possible so that people can move on with their lives.
While the prevailing political uncertainties and instability come entirely under the purview of politicians, it is the economy that is the focus of attention by most Malaysians as they are concerned with bread and butter issues.
But as promised, DSAI, while warding off political challenges, is true to his word by putting a lot of effort in implementing economic measures to ensure people can live reasonably well and in comfort and security.
DSAI will, however, need to also consolidate his grip on power and counter the dangers and threats to his leadership which have still not been resolved fully as there are bids to topple his stay at the top.
While so far he has managed to cling on to power, he needs to have a real firm hold on power by putting in place his foes and building a strong and capable set of leaders so Malaysians do not feel any dread of the future.
