Education system becoming absurd
BY: MIA NAWAWI
Parents of school going children and certain concerned teachers and educationists are breaking out in hives when they consider the state of the education system in the country which, no thanks to a number of politicians, have become heavily politicised.
Rogue politicians have for decades been fouling up education and the end result today is that the education system has become absurd and directionless causing the nation to produce school leaving students that are mostly misfits in society.
Leading educationists, not just in Malaysia, but from around the world have long warned the country that the education system is veering off track and producing students that have very few skills, character, intelligence and the ability to compete with others.
But Malaysian politicians and leaders chant a different tune, again as political propaganda, that the education system in the country is world class and comparable or better than Japan and Singapore.
If only these politicians were to get down to ground realities and ‘turun ke padang’, they will then see for themselves that the education system has descended into meaninglessness and most teachers are merely doing a semblance of work.
This sad state of affairs has already created a number of critical issues for students and before things get from bad to worse, what Malaysia only needs is a number of sincere and dedicated educationists to set things get right once again.
