Philanthrophy this Ramadan
BY: AKMAL AZIZ
This Ramadan is witnessing a rise in sharing and caring acts by Malaysians of all walks of life exercising philanthropy which has not been seen in this country for some years now owing to the Covid 19 pandemic.
Malaysians are showing unselfish concern for others, irrespective of race or religion, and contributing in cash and kind in whatever way possible to ensure that this Holy fasting month runs smoothly.
From food vendors giving discounted meals or cheap meals, Malaysians are finding that there is food available that is affordable and priced right that they are expressing gratefulness and thankfulness to these vendors.
Other Malaysians are joining in the bandwagon of philanthropy by providing cash aid and handouts to people who are poor and needy, especially those belonging to the low income B40 group.
What is interesting to witness is that all this philanthropy, all this financial aid, food and clothing that are being provided by Malaysians cut across race and religion and therefore there is a certain harmony among the people.
Love is a universal language and this Ramadan it is being expressed by many Malaysians which makes Malaysia a shining example of a multiracial, multi religious society that showcases a certain unity in diversity.
