Malaysians perspective of politicians
BY: HASNAH RAHMAT
Ask any full blooded Malaysian what they think of local politicians and most likely they will reel off a litany of grouses and complaints among which will be the widespread or endemic spectre of corruption of politicians.
It does not matter which side of the political divide, it does not matter what stripe of politician but all Malaysians will tend to agree that they are disappointed at the lack of integrity among most Malaysian politicians.
In the minds of most Malaysians, they visualize politicians as greedy, self seeking and self serving individuals who want to live a comfortable and easy life while flogging the backs of Malaysians to serve them.
The rot has set in and just like a fish rots from the head, Malaysians believe that all the past governments of this country were led by political leaders who had sold their soul to the devil for short sighted gains at the expense of the rakyat.
Eradicating corruption is now an uphill task as it is deeply embedded in the public delivery system and worse still there is now a deep state that exists in this country which troubles and disturbs many Malaysians who believe if nothing is done the country will become a failed state.
Malaysians are therefore concerned over the future of their country which now carries the description of being a rogue nation by the international community and wonder when there will be healing for this fractured nation.
