The Malaysian government has started to get innovative by ensuring that about 100,000 households from the hardcore poor and B40 groups are expected to benefit from the People’s Income Initiative (IPR).

Under this income generation project, which aims to upskill them into small scale entrepreneurs, the government will provide training and financial support to participants as well as marketing advice for two years.

The good news is that the government will provide an allowance for the time span of their training to top up their monthly income to reach RM 2000 a month as a means for them to be able to manage their household finances more efficiently.

This scheme which is the brainchild of Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli has three areas of focus which they will zero in and they include Agriculture or Intan, Food or Insan, and Service Operator or Ikhsan.

Under Budget 2023, the Economy Ministry of Rafizi Ramli received a RM750 million allocation to implement the IPR and for the vending machines which dispense RM2 Nasi Lemak and RM1 bottled water.

This recent move has already witnessed widespread support and Malaysians give the thumbs up for a caring gesture that shows that the life of the people and their welfare and well being is at the heart of the government.
