While inter-racial experiences between the Malays, Chinese and Indians in this country is generally perceived to be cordial, there is a setback in race relations to observe racial polarization also being common.

In schools, colleges and universities, in the private sector and public sector workplaces racial polarization can be frequently observed and this is disconcerting to many right thinking Malaysians.

This means that it is inevitable that the government of the day begins to work out the possibility of better inter-racial interaction and also to ensure that there is no separation of the races in any sphere of activity.

It’s hard to draw the line on ending racial polarization as each race has their own concerns that shackle them causing a lack of openness to be established among the races frustrating the objective of bringing about a one, unified Malaysia.

But there can be no excuse by any quarter in not trying and putting in effort to meet the challenge of building a one Malaysia where there is no distrust and suspicion among the races but peace and harmony.

Beginning with the government, parents, teachers and educators and employers, all in a position of leadership and authority should focus on eliminating racial polarization as it is unhealthy and causes a general unhappiness and discomfort among people.
