Practice thinking universally
BY: SARA ANUAR
In our secular world and in secular societies like Malaysia, it will be beneficial and most useful for people to think universally and to avoid thinking along religious or racial lines as this will yield a better understanding among people.
While individually, there is that profession of a faith or belief and people belong to a particular race, yet when thinking collectively it is best to think universally as this helps to foster better and healthier human understanding.
This is why, although Malaysia is a multi racial and multi religious society, there is a need to discard placing emphasis on the accidents of birth such as race, religion and nationality as it is really anyone’s guess how this came into being.
For the sake of peace and harmony, think universally. People should not be bothered by the colour bar and Malaysians must also welcome and make foreign workers feel at home as they play an important role in nation building.
By thinking along universal lines, there is everything to gain and nothing to lose. In every segment of Malaysian society there must be bridges built and the walls of division must come crumbling down.
By doing so, by every Malaysian thinking along universal lines so much more can be achieved by the unity, peace and harmony that is derived from the ability to cut across all factions and divisions that separate us to build us into a unified whole.
