Growing calls for King to end the impasse
BY: AIZAT ROSLI
Malaysians voted on November 19 this year. But the outcome of a hung Parliament was a result that was expected given the pull and push of the various coalitions but now Malaysians of all walks of life are calling for an end to the impasse.
A hung Parliament creates a great deal of uncertainty and many Malaysians are pleading and requesting His Majesty the King to come up with a quick solution so that everyone can get on with their lives.
Already institutional and foreign investors are adopting a wait and see attitude and the Stock Market is going haywire while the ringgit is susceptible to fluctuations as until today a government has yet to be formed.
Given this scenario at present and the jostling and jockeying for power going on behind the scene, there is a lot of shadow play and Malaysians are aghast that most politicians are putting their personal ambition and glory above the wishes and aspirations of the rakyat.
People who witness and follow events on social media are getting increasingly angry, bitter and critical as there is a perceived grab for power although in the 15th GE the outright winner was Pakatan Harapan whom many believe should be given the priority to form the government.
Whether the right thing will be done remains to be seen. But the King will have to cast the die eventually and many Malaysians are putting faith in his wise and discerning judgement and counsel once again.
