All eyes on His Majesty the King
The Yang Di Pertuan Agong of Malaysia is now the focus of attention for the rakyat as he consults his brother Malay rulers, political parties and listens to the pleadings and requests of the people for Anwar Ibrahim to be Prime Minister following a hung Parliament.
The impasse took place when no single coalition had the ability to form the next government following polling on November 19 and since then the nation is still under the administration of caretaker Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
But on the ground, there is rising feeling and sentiments that Anwar should be allowed, or given priority, to form the next government as many Malaysians believe that Muhyiddin Yassin as the alternative Prime Minister has failed before in this capacity.
Anwar has a proven and impressive track record of turning the economy around when he was Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister and is seen as the right candidate to jump start the flagging economy.
But His Majesty the King is wisely considering all options and realises that both in the 14th GE and 15th GE Malaysians are in favour of Pakatan Harapan being given the chance to lead the nation from Putrajaya as they have capable and able leaders.
While Malaysians wait anxiously there is a vigilant police presence on the streets amidst fears of civil unrest if the decision of His Majesty the King is not to their appeasement and liking and therefore people are being advised by PDRM to be cautious and careful.
