Nur Sajat’s family right to not persuade her return to Malaysia
The family of witch-hunted Nur Sajat has decided to no longer persuade over the return of their daughter to Malaysia, citing that it is safer in Australia.
Nur Sajat, a successful female entrepreneur, had fled to Australia under asylum after the government had come down hard on her being a transgender.
Her mother had said, “No, I won’t persuade her to come back. I’m fully aware of the dangers.”
She added that she wants to allow her child to have the freedom she wants and is proud of her achievements in Australia.
Malaysians on social media are delighted that the parents have taken a different stance despite the pressure from the government.
Henry Yeow believes it is the right thing to do by not lending support to continue the persecution against her.
“Why should all those who truly love her want Sajat to return to a hellish treatment of scorn?” he said.
Kelly Wu says it is suicidal for her to come back as the system will send her to jail.
“Sajat is not an ordinary person. She can survive wherever she is because of her intelligence,” she said.
Unlike politicians who have corrupted ways of making money, Sajat is making an honest living through her honest business.
Sajat’s mother had also mentioned that the best way for the family to move on is to accept their fate.
The 66-year-old said, “It’s okay. Those who spoke badly will end up bearing all the consequences.”
