Olympic singles champion Ma Long said he wishes that more table tennis tournaments could be held in Macau in the future.

“Macau has made great improvement in many fields, such as sports atmosphere, venue facilities, and the growing of sports talents,” said the 33 year-old, “I believe the SAR has the ability to hold more table tennis events.”

The professional Chinese table tennis player added that after the hosting and preparation of numerous large-scale sports competitions, including the next National Games of China which will be held in Macau, the city will definitely grow with the experience.

“I like Macau very much. The city makes me feel very warmhearted and comfortable every time I come here. I feel that the mentality of Macau people is very relaxed. I had good luck on the contests here every time,” said Ma.

Ma also believes that the overall level of the local Macau players is improving after experience playing with the mainland sports talents.
