How can the Securities Commission’s investigation be accepted when it’s not completed?

The public is puzzled over the statement made by the Prime Minister as he wants everyone to accept the Securities Commission (SC) conclusion to MACC’s Azam Baki’s scandal.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob at a Putrajaya event on Thursday (Jan 19) said, “The SC has made a decision. The matter was as left to the SC as it involves the purchase of shares.”

He added that the SC has made a decision and it says there is no case against him (Azam), so we accept the SC’s decision.

Citizens are in disbelief as they deem the investigation as shoddy and not thorough.

Balbir Dhaliwal said, “How can the Rakyat accept it when the SC Inquiry was done half-heartedly and without a thorough probe?”

She also mentioned that just because the Prime Minister accepts it, does not mean the public has to as they can think for themselves.

David Kun reminded the Prime Minister that the SC has only verified and validated the trading account was registered to Azam.

“It did not vindicate him for letting his brother or other people from using his account to purchase shares using his account,” he said.

He deems that the SC’s explanation leaves more questions than answers because it does not explain why his brother could use the account when he is not listed as a nominee.
