Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced  that Kuala Lumpur City Hall or DBKL has booked 60 electric buses from SKSBus Group which will be delivered in stages from this year until 2023.

In a briefing for the media after touring SKSBus Group’s manufacturing facility in Puchong, Ismail Sabri said electric-powered bus services would start in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya before going nationwide in an effort to ensure the country is carbon-neutral by the year 2050.

He hoped that other city council’s would imitate DBKL and provide free electric bus services such as the GoKL bus service currently plying the city of Kuala Lumpur.

This, he said, was essential, in order to achieve a carbon-neutral nation by 2050 and all the transport stakeholders of cities in Malaysia need to be involved.

SKSBus Group has over 50 years of experience in the coach manufacturing industry and has a ‘Made-in-Malaysia’ certification and is also equipped with a robotic facility.

Since 2019, SKSBus Group has been collaborating in the technical field with the CCRC Group of China, which is the world’s largest electric rolling stock manufacturer for railways, to build fully electrified buses.
