A Terengganu teacher was shocked that one of her students came back to school only because she was hungry, even when she had online classes.

On Facebook, Cikgu Share posted her experience about the unfortunate hungry student.

Although the National Recovery Programme required students across levels to be divided in their schedule to be in school, a particular was still at school compounds daily.

The teacher assumed she didn’t know about the rotation and was kind enough to explain it to her.

However, the next day she still came to school which the teacher said, “I asked her why did she come to school after I told her not to come in this week, but she only bowed her head down and kept quiet.”

Eventually, the teacher found out the actual reason behind the student’s appearance in school.

“I saw that she was a Supplementary Food Programme (RMT) recipient. I watched her eat the rice with chicken curry eagerly as if she was very hungry.”

The saddening revelation of a student desperate enough to come to school every day for food has left a mark among Malaysians.

Min Lin was emotional because there are children still in hunger despite enormous effort from NGOs.

He also had shared that his mother, a teacher, would tell him about all the hungry students in her school.

Min added, “She will spend a few afternoons each week to visit the poor students, among them are Malay students, to see how she can help them. She was a primary school teacher at the Siang Lin School in Jalan Durian Daun.”
