The Keluarga Malaysia Pass has been launched by the Prime Minister that would allow a family of four to travel on public transportations unlimitedly on weekends and public holidays.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob during the launch event said, “This will allow Malaysian Families to enjoy quality time with their loved ones visiting shopping malls or places of interest along the public transportation lines.”

However, Malaysians are questioning if the initiative comes at an appropriate time.

Zuai Md Noor on social media wrote, “And then you have KJ that the government has plans to put in place some social restrictions due to the rise in Covid-19 hospitalisation and infectivity rate.”

He wondered if the ministries ever communicate to one another over their plans.

The pass was based on decisions from Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong, Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and Prasarana Malaysia Bhd Chairman Tan Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim.

Despite Covid-19 concerns, some saw the benefit from an environmental standpoint.

“Great environmental initiative and I trust this is not a GE15 gimmick,” said Wee Hon Koo.

The Malaysian want the pass to be extended to other states public transportation services as the people there are burdened as well.

Currently, the Keluagra Malaysia pass is priced at RM15.
