Malaysia set for higher degree of alert after Covid-19 cases increase
The Ministry of Health (MOH) is prepared to set a higher degree of alert as Covid-19 cases in the country are increasing worryingly.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said, “I will announce the matter, including details of the situation on how this system will be applied. Maybe in a week or two.”
Although lockdowns are an option, the minister wants to avoid lockdowns because it disrupts the economy and people’s well-being and mental-health.
Now Malaysians are worried about the situation and are hoping that the government will have a firm stance on their decision.
“Kindly punish those who do not follow the SOP since we are into endemic,” said Geetha Pillai.
She believes the increase is because of people who do not put their mask properly and go around possibly infecting people.
“Don’t punish those who value and care for their life,” she said.
Leong Wee Seong, as a responsible Malaysian, advised Khairy that he should also focus on the infrastructure that supports the pandemic.
“Focus on getting better quality in your quarantine centres including hygiene and processes and improve the hospital capacity so that your treatment and recovery success rate is high,” he said.
He also wants to take the booster shots and wants the government to allow other vaccines to be allowed for boosters.
