A video has gone viral showing a man yelling at two campaigners to go away as they are only here to ask people for votes for the upcoming Melaka election.

The elderly man in the video, speaking in Tamil, said, “Get lost, get lost. What have you done for the Indian people? You guys are only here when you are going to poll.”

His straightforward remarks were appreciated by Malaysians on social media as they were honest and ‘about time someone stood up to politicians’.

Alex Shen wants the ‘uncle’ to be known now as ‘Uncle Truth’. He said that his word resonates well with the people’s frustrations and disappointments because he was standing up to the truth.

He added, “Get lost to all the greedy politicians. This uncle has gone through all the empty promises made by all politicians before.”

Marlina Azmi doubts that the November 20 election will yield a high voter turnout.

“The Rakyat has had enough with the politicians squabbling amongst each other for a piece of the pie,” she said.

The dissatisfaction has reached its peak and politicians need to rethink if they are going to gain the people’s trust.

Currently, the video has over 302,000 views and gaining more than 13,000 likes on Twitter.
