Survival of the fittest

In a damning verdict, Malaysia’s Ministry of Health has come out with a dire warning that most Malaysians are obese and unfit and unhealthy triggering a spike in the number of diabetics, heart patients and dialysis patients and other illnesses.

This is a worrying trend and generally it has been found that with affluence and wealth, Malaysians have let loose with a fury to indulge in food and drinks while neglecting exercise and sleeping habits.

The Ministry of Health has discovered that most Malaysians have a ‘topsy-turvy’ lifestyle and behaviour pattern resulting in low productivity and achievement in studies, at work and in business which invariably causes a drain on the economy.

This is why Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has launched a health and fitness campaign for all Malaysians to ensure that they shape up and start being more productive and useful at their functions.

This is not an easy task to achieve as it takes a lot of effort to restyle the lifestyles of Malaysians after so many years of economic booms that has caused them to be slothful and spoilt for choice that they have no qualms about being unhealthy and unfit.

‘Don’t let yourself go’ is the slogan chant of the Malaysian government as they intervene to ensure that Malaysians pull up their socks and start to initiate measures to take better care of their health and engage in the prevention of major illnesses.
