Human rights activist Malala Yousafzai has tied the knot with her partner and manager of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Asser Malik during a traditional Nikah ceremony surrounded by family and loved ones at their Birmingham home on Tuesday.

The Nobel Prize Winner shared the news via her Instagram and Twitter, with shots from the day of the couple’s special day.

“Today marks a precious day in my life. Asser and I tied the knot to be partners for life,” reads the caption to the post, as she expresses her excitement for her future with her new husband as they “walk together for the journey ahead.”

Her husband also shared his joy with the world in a Twitter post of his own, stating he has “found the most supportive friend, a beautiful and kind partner” in Malala and a picture of the pair commemorating their union with some sweet ‘victory cake-cutting’, in following with their our cricket team’s tradition.
