Actor Ammar Aziz Charged With RM3,500 Fine For Assaulting Pos Malaysia Driver & Damaging Van
Malaysian actor Ammar Alfian Aziz was recently charged with a hefty fine of RM3,500 by Kuala Lumpur’s Magistrate Court on November 1st, Monday, after he pleaded guilty to assaulting a Pos Malaysia driver and hitting the door of the driver’s van with a baseball bat.
The incident, which occurred this April, occurred at Jalan Budiman 26/17A, Cheras at 1.45 pm, with the first offense resulting in a RM2,000 fine, followed by a second offence for assaulting the driver of said van and a fine of RM1,500.
The 34-year-old actor would have had to serve a 2-month jail sentence should he fail to pay the fine, which he inevitably did pay.
“The accused is supposed to be a role model to the public as he is a well-known artiste,” commented Deputy public prosecutor Hanis Anisha Jamilludin, asking the court to impose a sentence that would be a lesson for the accused not to repeat their actions in future.
Alfian’s legal representative, Rhastdan Abdul Wahab, requested for the court to give his client a lighter sentence seeing as this was a first-time offence and the incurred losses were only around RM700.
“The victim also sustained minor injuries and my client cooperated with the police throughout the investigation,” he said.
