Najib’s Razak’s lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah will be able to travel to New York after the Kuala Lumpur High Court released his passport temporarily.

The High Court judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin had permitted the passport to be used until December 3 after no objection was brought up by the deputy public prosecutor S Nithia.

Media reports tell that the legal expert will be helping his son ‘settle in’ at the New School Parson in New York.

After a series of passports being released the past week, Malaysian are not surprised that convicts and people facing trial are allowed to travel.

Alex Lam said, “Only in Malaysia ‘boleh’ all the corrupted people can get their passport back for whatever reason.”

He added that in the upcoming elections, the people need to show that they will not take this mockery of the law lightly.

Izzat Izu also said that thousands of children go to colleges and universities overseas without their parents helping them to settle in.

Most parents see them to the airport, “so why does his son need his father following him?” he asked.

Izzat would have preferred the judge to alternatively make the mother go with the son.

Shafee is currently facing charges on money laundering for allegedly receiving RM9.5 million in two transactions from Najib’s bank account.
