Malaysian-made fashion campaign My Gaya Month
The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, backed by the Malaysian Bumiputra Designer Association (MBDA), has launched a campaign to encourage shoppers to buy Malaysian-made fashion apparel.
High quality fashion products are up for grabs from now until Nov.19 in a month-long campaign dubbed My Gaya Month and some of the items are reportedly on par with international brands.
Some 30 designers such as Bon Zainal Harun, Batek by Rasta Rashid, Carro, Three Little Ahmads, Huda Hassan and Masterpiece by Masrina Abdullah will be available along with others.
The ministry and MBDA said that the initiative was aimed at uniting the local fashion industry and brands in an effort to boost their image and sales locally as well as on the global market.
MBDA is always active in planning and executing different initiatives to support the government’s plan to revive the domestic economy taking into account different industry sectors such as fashion.
The campaign is aimed at raising awareness among members of the public on the high quality of Malaysian products and services that are as competitive as their international counterparts.
MBDA stated that in terms of sales forecast they were targeting to achieve RM250,000 during the campaign month especially through sales on the e-commerce platforms.
The items will also be sold on various e-commerce platforms such as Fashion Hub by MBDA, Shopee, Lazada, Aladdin1 and Zalora.
