Early water disruptions catch residents off-guard

Some residents affected by the scheduled water disruption were left surprised when the cut happened a day before it was planned.
On October 1, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) stated that the Sungai Selangor Phase 1 Water Treatment Plant (SSP1 WTP) will be going through maintenance work and the water supply will stop at 9 am yesterday.
However, residents in Bandar Utama had claimed that they had water disruption as early as 9.30 pm on Wednesday.
Victor Cheong, a resident, said, “I was hoping to store water last night as my family had been busy with work. Unfortunately, we could not do so and are now dependent on the water that is left in the home water tank only.”
Those on social media believe that Air Selangor had given ample time to save extra water.
Everett Yeoh on Facebook said, “This was not unplanned that we often complained the most. This was a pre-planned with an early announcement as to why it was done.”
She questioned why did those affect not take early precautions weeks before?
Michael Chin also said that having a last-minute attitude is dangerous when it comes to important matters.
“Please be aware of future incidents. It is quite common for Selangor to have water disruptions,” he said.
