Malaysians raise issues for Youth and Sports Ministry to tackle
Malaysians have taken to social media to raise issues that need addressing by the Youth and Sports Ministry.
The ministry had recently outlined some of their initiatives to grow the national sports industry and it was a delight to the people.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu said initiatives include increasing women’s participation in sports, discovering new talents, and generating economic growth through the sports sector.
The positive proposals by the government did not stop the people from bringing up their wish list.
Nor Rozita Nordin wants the ministry to focus on problematic youths, especially those who are involved in criminal activities.
She reminded Faizal that these youths are part of the nation’s future.
With collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Talent Identification and Development Programme (MyTID) will help identify students that are showing promising talent in sports from the age of seven.
Najeeb Mansor was excited over this as he believes many underprivileged children are strong athletes but lack support from family, school and government.
He added that the service should also be extended to para-athletes as they had shown their winning mentality in the recent Paralympics in Tokyo.
Faizal has also said that the ministry wants to support 1,968 sports-related business operators affected by Covid-19 to restart their businesses.
