Empowering youth for a better tomorrow
BY: AKMAL AZIZ
Today’s youth are the leaders of tomorrow. This is why it is very important to prepare and equip youth now to be able to face the challenges and difficulties of tomorrow in a way and manner that is not only confident but assured.
In a rapid and fast-changing world, which has been thoroughly revolutionised by technology, it is easy to see that the future will look very much like a sci-fi thriller only for real. This is the reason why the right and necessary steps need to be taken from now on for youth.
The key initiative in empowering youth is to give them a real and practical and workable education. There can be no shirking of our responsibilities in this and the current crop of leaders in this country must ensure education is on the right track.
This will involve making major and cutting-edge changes in the sphere of education and using state-of-the-art technology to bring to life real issues that need to be addressed to make this world a better place.
The old guard will fade away naturally and gradually and the future is in the hands of our youth. Managing youth is a complex arena and needs to involve all the stakeholders like parents, educators, employers, the government and NGOs to prepare them for the future.
Only a concerted effort by all parties will ensure that the future remains bright and hopeful, full of promise and life, by making sure that our youth will be able to perform well and to everyone’s satisfaction before they in turn pass on the baton to the younger set.
