Kisona Selvaduray, Malaysia’s badminton representative, had admitted that politician, Borhanuddin Che Rahim, racist slurs had made her cry and lose confidence.

During an interview with a local media, Kisona said, “Obviously (it affected me) because, in the end, I am human too.”

With the upcoming Uber Cup, she would prefer to leave the issue for her family and the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) to handle.

When pressed on by another member of the media about the slurs, she broke down in tears.

For Kisona, this would be her second Uber Cup since 2018 and is focused on playing a better game than at the Sudirman Cup.

The world-ranked #53 will likely face Danish world #12 and stated that they will give it their all as “we are not here to lose.”

Malaysians are riling up behind the badminton athlete on social media, spreading positive words to her.

Ghobinath Nair said, “You are the pride of the nation and do your utmost best. Not many have reached where you are now, so those stupid comments by stupid politicians are just jealous of your achievement.”

To Rosni Ibrahim, Kisona is already a winner and more success is on its way. He assured that Malaysians are fully supporting her career no matter the results.

“One person may scold you but thousands of people will bless and love you. Ignore them. Stay bold and keep succeeding for the thousands and yourself,” he said.
