Jealousy is nothing but a worthless emotion
BY: SALSABIELA JAMAL
Many of us have behaved as green-eyed monsters during our lifetime. A green-eyed monster is a person who is insanely jealous of someone else for whatever reason. This is really an unhealthy position to put ourselves in and therefore there is a need to be wary.
Being jealous and envious is a common phenomenon and certain leading psychologists contend that being a little jealous of someone else is actually good as it spurs us and motivates us to compete.
But the issue of jealousy becomes dangerous when it gets out of a person’s control. This is why in life it is always good to be sober and level headed and not allow emotions to get the greater control of us.
Learn to exercise emotional intelligence when it comes to being jealous. Take it in your stride but don’t let it make you run amok or mad enough to kill someone you are jealous of as this happens from time to time.
Basically jealousy, when examined, is nothing but a useless emotion that is prevalent in society. Always be on guard and vigilant to monitor the rise of jealousy to ensure that it is under control and within limits.
But the best thing to do when there are feelings of envy or jealousy of someone else within us is to write it off as just one of those things that happen in life and to let it pass. Don’t exacerbate it but keep it all in its proper perspective.
