Malaysians are enjoying the loosening of restrictions, but this respite they feel must not lead to complacency and a lowering of their guard, as the Covid-19 pandemic has yet to subside and being vigilant is still ultra important.
Travel bubbles to Langkawi Island, Genting Highlands, Melaka and Pulau Tioman were among the public annoucements and eateries, petrol stations and convenience stores can open from 6 am to 12pm.
It looks like life is slowly, stage-by-stage, getting back to normal. But ever lurking in the midst of us is the coronavirus and Malaysians must be watchful that they do not fall victim to the virus as they enjoy greater freedom.
With nearly 80 percent of the adult population currently vaccinated the nation is enjoying the benefits of having ‘herd immunity’ and as more people get vaccinated there is a strong possibility that inter-state travel will soon be allowed.
This is actually what many Malaysians are looking forward towards as quite a number have not been back to their hometowns because of the Movement Control Orders (MCOs) and lockdowns that were imposed for nearly twenty months.
But please be ever vigilant. Conform and follow the standard operating procedures (SOPs). Wear you masks when going out, wash or sanitise hands frequently, maintain social distancing and it is still best to stay home in order to stay safe and going out only when necessary.
