Boredom affects us all from time to time. It doesn’t matter whether the person is young or old and during this Covid-19 pandemic especially many Malaysians complain of being bored stiff. Whatever are they supposed to do?

Perhaps the best start is to be objective and realistic. The Covid-19 pandemic is still raging and it’s still best to stay home and be safe. This is why it is important for our homes to have a conducive atmosphere.

Staying home can be boring but it’s important to use the time to do constructive and helpful things. This simply means it is necessary to engage in self-help activities. This does not have to cost the earth but making simple changes to our lifestyle can help relieve boredom.

In the years prior to Malaysia’s economic boom which started in the late 80s to now most of us were basically confined to our homes as there were not many attractions outside unlike in today’s environment.

Young people should ask the old timers how they kept themselves well in those days when there was no Internet, mobile phones or computer games and accessories. How on earth really did the older generation cope with life?

By taking a cue from them now, thoughts and ideas can be generated by improvising and innovating our lives so there is no need to feel bored but instead a fulfilled and meaningful life can still be lived minus the boredom.
