A pair of Malaysians will be representing on behalf of Malaysia at the Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition Conference in Milan, Italy.

The global event is a three-day affair hosted by the Italian government that commences on September 28. The event will be an introductory event for the United Nations Conference of Parties Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow in November.

The two Malaysians are Sahana Kaur, 17, and Mogesh Sababathy, 23, who will be flagbearers at the prestige climate conference.

Cristiano Maggipinto, the Italian Ambassador to Malaysia, as well as David Thomas, the UK Deputy High Commissioner to Malaysia, have sent their congratulations to the young prospects.

Maggipinto said that youths in Malaysia had played a vital role in climate action and solutions and the voices of the young people can be a powerful catalyst for the future of climate change.

He added, “Due to their proven dedication and experience despite their young age, Sahana and Mogesh will testify in the best possible way to the commitment of young Malaysians in the fight against climate change at the coming Youth4Climate conference.”

Mogesh has come out and said that he is thrilled to help elevate the voices of Malaysian youth and use the opportunity to exchange views and discuss solutions.

The co-founder of Project Ocean Hope believed this will help to bridge the gap between climate science and society with other young people from across the world.
