Gym owners cry out to government to reopen
Gym owners are voicing out for the government to reopen and setup separate requirements, claiming that their shop lots are adequately ventilated.
Krishnakumar Kalimuthu, the President of Gymnasium Entrepreneurs Association Malaysia, said, “If ventilation systems are the main concern, our gyms have been equipped with open windows for fresh air, ceiling and exhaust fans even before the pandemic.”
He added that for commercial gyms that rely on air-conditioning for ventilation, the Health Ministry can continue to work on a solution for the. However, in the meantime other gyms can no longer afford to wait any longer.
The president was insisting that there need to be separate rules for shop lot gyms.
“If ventilation systems are the main concern, our gyms have been equipped with open windows for fresh air, ceiling and exhaust fans even before the pandemic,” he said.
He reasoned those smaller gyms could cross out the equipment and leave a gap between the equipment or remove the plugs. It would bear an additional cost if it was required to be separated with barriers or moving them out.
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin recently came out to say that his ministry is looking into the matter.
They are currently cooperating with the National Security Council to develop ventilation guidelines for the reopening.
