Reforms by government a welcome move
BY: MOHD ASWAD
Bringing about reforms has always been the mantra chanted by the opposition politicians and now it comes as a welcome surprise that the government of the day is proposing a number of reforms to keep up with the times.
Times have indeed changed in Malaysia. The people have been clamouring for change and reform for a number of years and now hope to see the light of day. The reforms proposed by the government are basically up the street of the rakyat.
In fact, it would be good if the government can obtain feedback and information from the people as to what kind of reforms they would like to see and these proposals by people must be given serious consideration at the federal cabinet level.
Besides this, the government must put in place an immediate reform to look into the welfare and well being of the people especially their state of finances and be given aid to manage the finances of households.
Reforms by the government must be sincere, workable and practical. It should not just be another slogan chant to counter the reformation that is emerging from the opposition side of the political divide.
The quicker and faster the government’s reforms are translated into reality the better will it be in alleviating the suffering, misery and agony of the rakyat who are going through hard times because of the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
