Anwar commends Prime Minister but unsure of common ground yet
Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has praised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s effort to transform Parliament and the government administration, labelling it a good start.
But the Parti Keadilan Rakyat president was unsure of the best common starting point to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic as discussions are still taking place.
He added, “It includes protecting lives and safety from the threat of the outbreak and to free the people from economic shackles following the loss of income and jobs.”
Anwar’s statements come in line after Ismail Sabri had announced seven transformations for Parliament and government to restore political stability.
These included Anti-Party Hopping Bill, passing the UNDI18 bill and capping a Prime Minister’s term to one decade.
For the opposition party, it vitally includes them to be part of the National Recovery Council (NRC) for their opinions.
The Port Dickson MP said that Pakatan Harapan will continue to play its role as an Opposition by stressing on good governance of the government as well as its determination to eradicate corruption.
The opposition coalition had met today (Sept 11) with the Prime Minister to further discuss the proposals made.
There will also be a decision whether they will sign the confidence and supply agreement with the new government.
