Health is important to everyone. Healthy teeth and gums would make eating and chewing food easy. We could also enjoy our favourite food without experiencing any discomfort.
As we age, we might encounter problems that could affect our dental health. However, the good news is that if we take good care of our dental health, there is a high chance that we wouldn’t have to go through dental health problems.
Brushing our teeth daily would help prevent tooth decay, a condition that occurs when dental plaque builds up on our teeth. The plaque contains bacteria that would produce acid that harms the enamel coating of our teeth. This would lead to cavities and the only solution is to pay a visit to the dentist who would help cover the holes of the affected teeth with filling. It is also advisable to use toothpaste with fluoride if you are one of those who have a high risk of experiencing tooth decay.
Another dental health problem would be gum disease. This happens when plaque is built up under the gum line. Infection would occur and the gums would appear redder, tender and might even bleed easily. This condition could be prevented by brushing our teeth and flossing daily.
Most importantly, we should fix appointments and visit our dentist yearly to ensure that our teeth get cleaned and checked. Another way to care for our dental health is by eating a healthy diet, limiting consumption of sugary food or drinks, drinking lots of water and not forgetting to brush the tongue. We should also remember to brush our teeth before going to bed at night as this would get rid of any plaque or germs that have been built up during the day.
