Selangor MB pressured to solve KLNFR issue
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been pressured to find a solution for the Kuala Langat North Forest Reserve (KLNFR) issue by the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) party.
During a council meeting with the PKR council, the Menteri Besar was questioned over the degazetted land and what are his solutions.
A party leader said, “Our party meetings are always heated but this was more heated than usual for obvious reasons.”
The party chief, Anwar Ibrahim, had ordered Amirudin to detail the reason why the land was degazetted.
Anwar reaffirmed that the move violates the Selangor state assembly and party leadership wishes.
Amirudin has since put the controversial decision on hold after major backlash from citizens and politicians.
The party’s Communications Director Fahim Fadzil said, “The political bureau is satisfied by the Menteri Besar’s guarantee that he will put the degazettement on hold until the state government has considered and explained the issues that were raised.”
DAP’s Sg Pelek Member of Parliament Ronnie Liu has warned that the decision could risk the coalition’s reputation.
He questioned why was the issue done in a hurry and kept MPs in the dark. He added, “I disagree with the degazettement and I don’t see a reason for it.”
