Opposition disappointed with new Cabinet as its rehashed
Opposition Members of Parliament have expressed their disappointment with the Prime Minister due to his rehashed Cabinet announcement.
Pakatan Harapan’s President, Anwar Ibrahim had said that the Prime Minister had essentially recycled the Cabinet from Muhyiddin Yassin’s administration.
During his Facebook Live stream on Friday (Aug 27) he stated, “I believe it is clear that it (the Cabinet) will not be able to inject new spirit or confidence into domestic and foreign investors.”
He added that although the elected ministers have 100 days to prove their capabilities, many have no strong achievements from the previous Cabinet.
DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng also commented that there are doubts about the Prime Minister’s initiatives tackling the ongoing crisis in Malaysia.
On his Twitter, he wrote, “A recycled Cabinet is no different from putting old wine in a new bottle that raises scepticism on whether there are new solutions for the current Covid-19 pandemic and economic crisis, as well as sufficient room for progressive institutional reforms.”
Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman labelled the announcement as a ‘wasted opportunity’ as the line-up did not include individuals like Datuk Seri Azalina Othman, Shahril Hamdan and Dr. Asyraf Wajdi.
The Muar MP posted a poll asking Malaysians to vote if they approved the Cabinet. After 7 hours, 94 per cent had voted that the Cabinet would be ‘Kabinet Gagal 2.0’.
