New or old Cabinet: Prime Minister to submit Cabinet list today
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob is expected to submit his Cabinet list to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong today (Aug 26).
The Prime Minister was reported to have taken a flight to have an audience with the Agong who is currently in Kuantan, Pahang.
The Cabinet list is said to be a shuffle between UMNO and Bersatu, where previously certain positions were given to certain political parties.
Many will be watching if the Prime Minister selections will be a refreshed Cabinet or an unchanged Tan Sri Muhyiddin administration.
A source close to the situation said the formation of the Cabinet will be done before National Day on Tuesday, August 31.
He added, “Ismail Sabri is a senior politician, and he knows that if he does not get the Cabinet finalised by this week, the image of his government would be at stake, as everyone is watching and he has many quarters to please, namely the teams in his own party UMNO and the ones who supported him to be the ninth Prime Minister.”
After the presentation of the Cabinet list and getting the approval, the cabinet will be sworn in by Friday or by the weekend.
The Bera MP was supposed to have an audience with His Majesty yesterday (Aug 25) but got postponed as he was in his constitutional state.
